The workshop will cover:
1. Getting familiar with Painter. Setting up the Painter pallets and getting to know the brushes you will be
using. You will learn the use of layers in Painter and the art of using a cloned image.
2. Painting Portraits. How to paint faces and eyes that will take your customers breath away. Jim will show you his technique and the brushes he uses to paint faces and eyes. Having trouble painting hair? Jim will show you how to smooth out the tangles. You will also learn how to create custom brushes.
3.De-Mystifying Cloner Brushes. Jim will show you how to take advantage of the powerful cloner brushes.
Corel has completely redesigned the cloner brush interface with Painter 12. With the addition of the new Clone
Source palette, painting with cloner brushes has never been easier and the ability create has been elevated to a
new level.
4. Painting Impressionistic Backgrounds. Through the years painters such as Sargent and Pino have
captivated us with their impressionist paintings. Jim will show you a simple yet effective way to create
painted backgrounds that have the look of the great masters.
5. Pastel Portraits and Prints. Learn to create a softer look using Pastels and Chalks.
6. Fine Art Painting. You will learn techniques on turning your landscapes and flower photographs into works
of art.
7. Marketing you Images. Tips and ideas on how to market and sell your Painter images.
Jim Cunningham - M. Photog., Cr., CPP
With a degree in Marketing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Jim has been a
photographer in Little Rock since 1976, and has owned his own studio since 1983. Recipient of 9
Kodak Gallery Awards and 4 Fuji Masterpiece Awards, Jim has spoken at state and regional
conventions and has presented workshops at Imgaing USA twice. In 2010 Jim had the honor of
teaching Corel Painter at Canada’s National Convention. Since 2001, Jim has enjoyed teaching
Photoshop and Painter workshops, and feels that digital imaging gives the photographer the
ability to create what we see in our mind’s eye.
